Relax in Jakarta

My travel to Jakarta had begun from 2 sept-4 sept 2010. I went to Kuala Lumpur - Jakarta. I leaved my country for more than 8 months on the purpose of study. My thankful to God Allah for the chance given to me that I could smell the atmosphere of my country after staying in Kuala Lumpur for more than 8 months. My gratitude goes to Muhammad Fathoni , he has been provided us the space for sleeping and resting during my time in Jakarta. Thanks also to Misbakhul Munir for sharing the news , knowledge and treating us in Benlir (Bendungan Hilir) as well. Misbakhul Munir is a former roommate when I was in Rumah Peradaban. He is currently working as a DPR (The House of Representatives) expert staff. I just wish and pray to both of you, that May Allah gives the best rewards.

I stayed in Jakarta for 2 days. That was my real staying in Jakarta. My last visit in Jakarta was in 2007 but it was just transiting before going to Jambi (some states in Sumatra). Staying and travelling around Jakarta was really impressed me. I went to many places such as Cengkareng, Gambir, Kramat Sentiong, Blok M and strayed away to Tharatman for the sake of going to Gramedia (book store) nearby Kramat Sentiong. Fortunately, I went by Busway it was just Rapid KL so that I couldn’t take it as a challenge because it quite similar case when I was in KL. Furthermore, I went with my friend so that the journey was not fearful even I didn’t familiar with Jakarta as well.

The most catch my glimpse was a child that came over me and asked my friend next to me by saying “Bang Nyemir Sepatu?” (Brother, do you want to polish your shoes?. it was at 9 PM. I asked him that he was just 7 years old. Supposedly, the child like him is to be home and having warmth sleeping with his parents, yet, he doesn’t. Just imagine if as a child you are familiar with or closed to you.

My friend took his request that his shoes to be polished, yet, my friend asked the fees that should be paid to him. So, the child answered “Seikhlasannya OM.” (As sincere you wish, uncle). For sure, I heard pityingly and never estimated that he could say those words.

I could say that this travel was the most valuable holiday in the Moth of Ramadhan. Thanks…

From the Darkness to the Lightness

Last week was difficult days that I had in my life. No passion to live, no target to be reached and the days that I had really punish my life. Allegedly, I look like happy person every day because no injuries appeared in the physical body. But it was not. Honestly, I got so many things that I felt uncomfortable to be. What people say is often very different from what I think or feel.

Consciously, to have everything good in my life – is coming from inside me. "No one could be blamed except me" said one of my friends to me. Every discovery, invention, and human creation comes from the power that come from inside. I tried to attack my laziness and all poison inside my body. At the same time, the world is growing rapidly without telling to me. So, if I still keep staying without any desire. Where I would be?

My times have only just begun. I control my time without being controlled by the time. During Ramadhan I prefer to stay in PR (Rumah Peradaban). It is my home rent in Malaysia. To be in home is a fun and inspiring to me as long as having target to be accomplished which greatly impressed me.

There are so many works to be accomplished this week before going back to my country next week (on 2th of September 2010).

Psychologists have discovered that our minds are ruled by two different systems—the rational mind and the emotional mind—that compete for control. The rational mind wants a great beach body; the emotional mind wants that Oreo cookie. The rational mind wants to change something at work; the emotional mind loves the comfort of the existing routine. This tension can doom a change effort—but if it is overcome, change can come quickly. Then, let me do it..hi hi

Thomas Alva Edison said there is no substitute for hard work.

Ilm Kalam (preview)

We are Muslim. Do you know about Ilm Kalam? If you ever heard, should we study on Ilm Kalam? Do you know about this? Ilm kalam is the discipline of knowledge that appeared in 2th century of Hijriyyah following by the development of knowledge in the muslim’s world. There are lists of names to name Ilm Kalam such as Al-fiqh al-akbar, ‘ilm Ushuluddin, ‘ilm at-tawhid, and ‘Ilm al-‘aqaid. From the Muslim Scholars such al-Farabi (W.339 H), al-Ghazali (w. 505 H), al-Baydhawi (w.685), Ibn khaldun (w. 807), al-Jurjani (w. 816 H), they agreed that the objective of study Ilm kalam is to strengthen our belief toward God (Allah). I have the whole definition of each scholar that I cannot list them all here. Forgive me…

What is the objective of study Ilm kalam? And Why? Is it important?

a. Is it for Methodology of Ilm kalam?

b. Is it for Methodology to become Mutakallimun?

c. Is it for research in Methodology of Ilm kalam?

Which one do we prefer to choose?

If we choose “a” then, our objective to study ilm kalam is to become Muslim or Islam.

If we choose “b” then, our objective to study ilm kalam is to know Islam professionally. However, to know it doesn’t mean believing. Isn’t it?

If we choose “c” then, our objective to study ilm kalam is to study ilm kalam as an object of the study without and not necessarily following what is inside. In other word, discussion and talking about it without to be in it. It is like orientalists.

So, if we want to study about Ilm kalam please decide right away because it will affect our attitude.

Commonly, the method that has been used among scholars in Ilm kalam is rational method (Nazhar ‘aqli) or istidlal, ihtijaj (hujjah). And there are 3 things:

  1. Syllogistic/Deductive Reasoning (qiyas)
  2. Inductive Reasoning /Inference (istiqra’)
  3. Analogical Reasoning/Method of Comparison (tamsil)

there are 5 foundations of syllogistic (qiyas):

1. Every/all B (every human being0 is A (can thing)

Every/some C (you) is (are) B (human being)

All C (you) is (are) A (Human Being)

or

Every B (Every monkey) is not A (Not Human Being)

All/Some C (You) is A (Human Being)

All/some C (You) is (are) A (Human Being)

2. All/some A (Muslims) is (are) B (performing sholat)

All/some C (Jhon) is not B (Not Performing sholat)

All/some C (Jhon) is not B (Not Muslim)

3. B (Pesantren Alumni) is (are) A (know religion well)

B (Pesantren Alumni) is (are) C (becoming Liberal Muslim)

Some C (some Liberal Muslim is (are) A (know religion well)

4. P is Q. Then, without Q is not P

5. P or Q it mean P is not Q or Q is not Q

The little I know..the little I can share for you.. :)
